  • Thank you for attending the Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS) Pathway to Neurosurgery Program in October 2021! You are now eligible to apply for the Pathway to Neurosurgery award. The award is designed to give you a more immersive experience in neurosurgery with one of the academic neurosurgeons here in Austin.

    If you are chosen for the award, you will be required to do the following:

    1. Meet with your assigned neurosurgery mentor at least four times over the upcoming year
    2. Attend two virtual check in meetings with the CNS
    3. Write up a case report for abstract submission to a CNS meeting or local meeting or submit an article for the CNS Quarterly
    4. Fill out an end of year survey 

    The award comes with a stipend. Two people will be chosen this year. The applications will be judged on the letter of recommendation, the ability to demonstrate an interest in STEM and articulate how the CNS annual meeting experience inspired you in the personal statement, and a GPA of at least 3.0.

    **Instructions for those writing letters of recommendation- Please rank students in the top 10%, top 25%, top 50% or top 75% of students you have worked with. Letters of recommendation need to submitted via email to membership@cns.org with subject line: "Letter of Recommendation for Student Name- CNS Neurosurgery Experience"**
