Schaumburg, Ill., October 19, 2022—The Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS) proudly announces Dr. Elad I. Levy as the 2023 CNS President. Dr. Levy will help lead CNS programming and strategy, organizational and member initiatives, mentor and guide staff and executive committee, and many other aspects of the organization.
Regarding his appointment, Dr. Levy said, "To serve the CNS as the president is an unparalleled honor and truly a highlight of my professional career.”

Dr. Levy is Professor of Neurosurgery and Radiology and the L. Nelson Hopkins, MD Professor Endowed Chair of the Department of Neurological Surgery at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, State University of New York at Buffalo. In 2017, he was appointed as one of 12 National Directors to the American Board of Neurological Surgery. In 2018, Dr. Levy received the 2018 CV Section Drake Lectureship at the CNS and was appointed Secretary to the CNS’s Executive Committee. He has co-authored over 500 peer-reviewed publications, including several in the New England Journal of Medicine. Dr. Levy has also co-authored many published books on neurovascular disease including Decision Making in Neurovascular Disease.
Dr. Levy also serves as these three roles: Co-Director of the Gates Stroke Center and Cerebrovascular Surgery at Kaleida Health, and Director of Endovascular Stroke Treatment and Research Medical Director of Neuroendovascular Services at Gates Vascular Institute (GVI). Prior to his professorship at the university, Dr. Levy graduated from Dartmouth College and received his Doctor of Medicine degree with distinction from George Washington University. He completed a surgical internship and his neurosurgical residency at the University of Pittsburgh and his fellowship at the University at Buffalo. Dr. Levy also earned his MBA from Northeastern University in 2013.
Since becoming the Chairman at the University of Buffalo Neurosurgery in 2013, he has more than doubled the size of the faculty. Amid his active and engaged career, he still manages to find time to be a devoted husband to his supportive wife, Cindy, and father to his three children: Bennett, Hannon, and Lauren.
