    We are proud to present Mark L. Rosenblum, MD, as one of our Honored Guests at the 2021 CNS Annual Meeting.

    Dr. Rosenblum is currently Chairman Emeritus of the Department of Neurosurgery in the Henry Ford Health System (HFHS). During his tenure with HFHS, Dr. Rosenblum developed nationally recognized research and helped provide the System national recognition for clinical excellence. Dr. Rosenblum also founded and served as a Co-Director of the Hermelin Brain Tumor Center and HFHS Neurosciences Institute, as well as founding the Michigan Spine Surgery Improvement Collaborative, a statewide quality improvement program with Blue Cross-Blue Shield of Michigan. He also was one of four leaders who developed a new novel, patient-focused Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital, where he served as Vice President of Clinical Programs and Director of its Center for Health Services Transformation.

    Dr. Rosenblum obtained his BS at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (1965), MD at New York Medical College (1969), Medical Internship at the University of Michigan (1970), Staff Associate at the National Cancer Institute (NCI) (1972), Surgical Residency at the University of California, Los Angeles (1973), and Neurosurgery Residency at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) (1979). At UCSF, he helped develop its world-leading Brain Tumor Research Center, became Professor of Neurosurgery, and was continuously funded by the NCI and American Cancer Society for early research on cancer stem cells. In 1984, he founded and for seven years chaired the Section on Tumors of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) and Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS). While at UCSF, he is also credited for defining the modern management of brain abscesses and the effects of AIDS on the nervous system.

    Dr. Rosenblum has received many awards for his research and clinical work including the first Charles B. Wilson Award from the AANS and CNS for life-long contributions to neuro-oncology, and from the American Cancer Society, his medical school, HFHS and others. He has published seven books, 240 articles and chapters, trained 63 neurosurgeons and raised $45 million in philanthropy for Neuroscience.

    Dr. Rosenblum has served on several hospital and industry boards. He presently is on the Boards of NICO and IZI corporations, two companies that have developed minimally invasive brain and spine surgery technologies, and is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Health Management and Policy in the School of Public Health at the University of Michigan. Dr. Rosenblum has particular experience with the value of integrated specialty care, including the development of Centers and Institutes, and developing innovative delivery processes “through the eyes of the patient.” Mark lives in West Bloomfield, Michigan and Longboat Key, Florida with his wife Pam. They especially enjoy spending time with their daughter Amy, son Scott, and their four grandchildren.
