DEAR RESIDENTS:

Zachary N. LitvackOn behalf of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, I would like to invite you to attend the 2008 CNS Annual Meeting, September 20 – 25, in Orlando, Florida. With new educational formats and an outstanding lineup of featured speakers, the 2008 CNS Annual Meeting will provide unprecedented educational opportunities for you.

The CNS Scientific Program Committee has developed symposiums and tools designed to enhance the value and relevance of the Original Science Program. Most significant is Integrated Medical LearningSM (IML), offering attendees an opportunity to drive Annual Meeting content through online pre-meeting surveys and interactive polling of the audience during presentations. Eight IMLSM sessions will be held during the Tuesday and Wednesday Section Sessions.

Honored Guest, Dr. William F. Chandler, will address our theme, “The Community of Neurosurgery: Wisdom from Shared Experience” and will host the Honored Guest Luncheon Seminar, which is complimentary to a limited number of resident attendees. We also have a complete lineup of engaging speakers, including our Ninth Annual Walter E. Dandy Orator, Maya Angelou, Muhammad Yunus presenting the CNS Michael L.J. Apuzzo Lecture on Creativity and Innovation and Ed Viesturs presenting the Julian T. Hoff Lecture.

Our exciting social program begins with the CNS Opening Reception, Sunday, September 21. A number of events just for residents are also offered, including the popular CNS Resident SANS Challenge where top resident training programs will compete for a chance to win bragging rights, trophies and a cash prize for their program. Additionally, the annual CNS Resident Recruitment Social will take place on Tuesday, September 23. This is a wonderful opportunity to pursue post-graduate job opportunities and catch up with fellow residents.

We hope you will make every effort to attend the Congress of Neurological Surgeons Annual Meeting in Orlando. The CNS is again making it easier for residents to attend by offering complimentary housing to the CNS Resident Members at the Annual Meeting (note guidelines on the Resident Housing Application). The first 100 CNS Resident Members to register will receive complimentary registration! As always, registration fees are reduced for all Resident Members.

I look forward to seeing you in Orlando!

Sincerely,
Zachary N. Litvack, MD
Chair, Resident Committee
